Meet David–The Bejeweled Man

At first glance David seems like an interesting character, with the disco balls and what he deems as the “Golden Alien” placed strategically on his table in the middle of the antique section of Columbus Flea Market. We must address the elephant in the room, he wears a gemstone on his forehead. While talking to him, David seems to be just another guy selling “antiques” aka items that don’t work. His table is filled with light up objects, and he states “When I was born, they told me I liked light.” While observing the items on David’s table, he explained that he believes people can reach a higher consciousness with these items: so that humans can become more aware of life. Unsure what that means, but he didn’t convince us that any of his items actually worked.

Before this, David, with no college education was working at a factory making tiles. Eventually being tired of this work, David actually quit and started working for the Trenton Times. This is where he learned the in’s and out’s of media. This is also where he found out about Columbus Flea Market, writing many articles and taking pictures of the place. About 25 years ago David didn’t want to be with the Trenton Times anymore and went to Columbus to start selling anything that he collected. Calling it the best time of his life, David met so many people while haggling here at Columbus, he soon became a regular. Although his wife wasn’t happy at first, she finally found the joy David had felt about the flea market. He stills sells here and wants to keep selling for a long, long time.
