Boys Basketball Update
The Boys Basketball Team is currently sitting at 12-5 (9-3) and are having a solid year all around. Starting the year 1-2, the boys put the pieces together and started stringing together some wins to build a resume for themselves. After beating Lakewood to get to 3-2 on the young season, the Panthers went on one of the best streaks that head coach Kevin Hynes has been apart of. Winners of 10 straight, the boys held a two game lead in division play with a record of 11-2 (8-0) on the year. With division wins against Lakewood (45-40), Lacey (58-36), Manchester Twp. (55-51), Toms River South (53-49), Pinelands 2x (56-27), Barnegat (56-42), Donovan Catholic (60-53), and Jackson Liberty 2x (55-46/ 65-45).
Since their win against cross-town rival Point Beach (75-49) on January 25th, the Panthers have dropped three straight. With losses to Lakewood, Lacey, and most recently Manchester, the team got back on track by beating Pinelands 36 -29. The team is looking to get on another win streak as the Shore Conference and state tournaments approach.
Seniors Alex Drucquer, AJ Hernandez, and Sam Young have been anchoring a young team and look to be big factors the rest of the year along with sophomore Matt Lee and freshman Stephen Mellett. The boys are back in action Thursday 02/20 against Central Regional. Lets get it boys.
