Grammy Awards Cancelled Again

Grammy Awards Cancelled Again

The 64th annual Grammy Awards show was originally set to premiere for the 1st of January. However, due to the new strain of COVID-19 (Omicron), it has been postponed with no further release date. This is the second time the event has been canceled due to a COVID-19 variant. It has been extremely upsetting for celebrities. No one is able to receive their awards until the show is able to take place. This year, the Grammy’s location will be at the Crpyto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. In addition, Trevor Noah is expected to return as the host for this year.

The Grammys were moved last year because of the virus. It was moved to the 14th of March, where they also switched from holding it in the Staples Center to the Crypto.com Arena in LA, because it has more space. It was a big turn of events last year as it is this year. Apparently, The Grammy’s also have a 10-day (or more) lockout of the venue in which they’re held. Unfortunately, the Crypto.com Arena’s schedule does not seem to have that type of opening until at least June. The Recording Academy expects a live audience along with a full show when it can finally premiere.

Although infection rates have declined over the years, the Grammy’s is still one of the most popular televised award shows that brings in millions of dollars in revenue. Taking a look at the 2022 show, you’ll notice Jon Batiste, who is the bandleader on “The Late Show with Stephen Colber,” led the pack with 11 nominations. Alongside him, some top charting artists include Doja Cat, Billie Eillish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Justin Bieber also receiving a few nominations.
