PPBHS Wrestling Team Gets 700th Win
After losing 8 seniors this past June to graduation, the Panthers Wrestling Team has hopped out to a hot 7-0 start, beating Barnegat, Jackson Liberty, Toms River North, and Lakewood in dual meets.
To open the season, the Panthers made the trip to the Manalapan invitational. Where four panthers won the bracket and got 1st place, Frosh Frank Burgio and Joey DeAngelo, Sophomore Ryan Acquisto, and Junior Jack Thompson. Along with Juniors Jake Messano and Justin Krosnicki getting 2nd place.
The Panthers, once again, made the trip down to Middletown South to compete in the Walter Woods Holiday Classic. Finishing 2nd among 11 schools that participated that day. DeAngelo took home 2nd place while Nate Fletcher and Jack Thompson got 3rd.
In their first quad meet, Coach Brady and company dominated the opposing competition and outscored their three opponents 184-43. The Point Boro Wrestling program has just reached 700 matches won in program history. Also, entering his 14th season, Head Coach Pat Brady has achieved legendary status after winning his 200th match against Freehold Township and has a career record now of 203-79.
A team with only six seniors looks to keep the show going as they host Colts Neck today and hope to keep that goose egg in the loss column.
