Point Boro Baseball Preview
The Point Boro Panthers are looking for their statement season with almost every single player returning with a couple more dawgs added.
One of our newest dawgs added to the roster is QB1 Charlie Vitale returning back to his baseball prodigy. PPBHS ace Bryson Kirby with more strikeouts than innings pitched last year 35K/32.5 innings pitched. With Bryson as the ace the pitchers keep coming with the next guy up Eric Anilonis 6’5 who reaps the competitions, then JUCO bandit Matthew Dewitte looking to put himself higher in the rotation this year. The newest addition to the mound is spohomore Cal Kedves who wants to show everybody what he can do to the batter.
Point Boro’s bats would like to bounce back from a poor hitting performance last year. This year the hitting is coming together. Infielders: Trey Harpootlian (Sr./1B), Connor Cilento(Jr./SS), Thomas Laspina(Jr./2B), Carl DiVona(Sr./3B). Outfielders: Bryson Kirby(So./CF), Charlie Vitale(Sr./LF), Nick Scelfo(Sr./RF),(Jay Bennett(So./ UTIL) Brian Simoes(So./OF). Nick Scelfo is looking to put a couple of balls over the fence this year with his big barrel and a lot of pitchers tremble. Connor Cilento coming off a grand slam in a scrimmage against Brick TWP bringing in runs from Andrew Lockwood, Brian Simoes, and Christopher Semrani, giving the Panthers late-game help.
Star Pinch runners Christopher Semrani and Andrew Lockwood, some of the fastest kids on the team, show their skills on the bases contributing to the team bringing in runs and stealing bases when we need it most. Point Boro Baseball is led by Coach Drew(HC)/Coach Cilento(AC)/Coach Furlong(PC) and team managers Jordan, Matthew, Joey, Max.
