It’s Bauer Hour! In the Point Pleasant Boro High School, Mr. Bauer brings art and fun to many students. Mr. Bauer teaches all grade levels and conducts studio art, 2D, AP art history, and for the first time this year, a 3D art class. He also is the advisor of the Point Pleasant Boro Art club. Mr. Bauer starts his class with a slide show presentation. He conducts a lesson about the background of the art and photos of the next project. He then hands out materials and guides his students through steps to complete the project, but lets them have their own creativity so every project is unique. 

Mr. Bauer described to us the types of projects that are included in his class as well as how long it takes to plan them out: “All types of projects, we sample all the different artworks and materials so that everyone can get a good experience and hopefully find something they like or enjoy…Anywhere from an hour to several days, sometimes when an idea strikes everything falls into place.” 

When we asked Mr. Bauer what he likes about being an art teacher, he also shared with us, “I like the fact that I can do something that I am personally passionate about and help students who are also interested, advance their skills. Plus introduce art to students who haven’t enjoyed it yet in school.”

After interviewing students in Mr. Bauer’s class, Senior, Madelyn Brue who is in studio art told us, “I look forward to art every day, it is fun, lets me be creative, and makes my day. Mr. Bauer is such an understanding and caring teacher. My favorite project was the oil pastels, I was eager to work on it.”

Juliet Anen, who is a Sophomore in 3D art, also shared with us, “I think Mr. Bauer is very knowledgeable and this class is an interesting part of my day where I learn many new things about art.” 

When we asked Juliet what her favorite project was, she went on to say, “my favorite project that I have done is my coil project because I made a big minion and I thought I really pushed myself to the limits with this project. I just think Mr. Bauer’s class is so entertaining and you know Bauer power!” 

Overall, Mr. Bauer is an amazing teacher who brings so much creativity to Point Pleasant Boro High School. So many students are grateful to have a space to enjoy art. There are classes available for all students, from beginners to those passionate about the subject.
