Cooking with L: January Edition
Are you struggling to find something to do with family and friends due to the cold weather? Why not try making a homemade pizza? You’ll get a yummy snack and your house will be warm and cozy from the oven being on for a while!
Part 1: Prepare Pizza Crust and Marinara Sauce
Pizza crust:
2 ½ – 3 c flour
1 pkg dry active yeast (½ T plus ½ t)
1 tsp. Salt
1 c warm water (115-118 degrees)
2 tbsp Cooking oil
Directions:
- In a KitchenAid mixer bowl, combine 1 ¼ cups flour, yeast, and salt.
- Add warm water and oil, beat with a dough hook at low speed for 30 seconds. Scrape bowl.
- Beat for 3 minutes at high speed. (8).
- Stir in the remaining flour (reserving ¼ c for kneading)
- Turn dough onto a lightly floured counter and knead until smooth and elastic (6-8 minutes).
- Put the dough in a medium mixing bowl coated with oil. Cover with plastic wrap and a towel. (Dough needs to double in size).
Part 2: Cook the Pizza
Preheat oven to 425
Sauce
Dough
1 c shredded Mozzarella cheese
2 tbsp grated parmesan cheese
Directions:
- Roll out pizza dough and transfer to pan, pre-baking bake 7 minutes.
- Spread crust with sauce, and top with shredded mozzarella cheese and grated parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes.
