What would you do for free movie tickets? Would you cut off some of your own hair? Slap your dad? How about donating some blood? Because that’s what Lionsgate Studios are asking their loyal Saw fans for: “a sacrifice of blood” (Jigsaw).
Lionsgate Studio’s is inviting us to “paint the town red” with their promotional Bloodbath Blood Drive for the new upcoming movie Saw X. The tenth installment of the Saw franchise, which comes out September 29, 2023.
To those who haven’t seen Saw, the Saw franchise is a gory horror movie series about John Kramer, A.K.A. the Jigsaw Killer, kidnapping people and putting them through tortuous games. In surviving the games, the victim can atone for their sins by proving to Jigsaw that they appreciate their life and will do whatever it takes to protect the gift we call life. If not, the victim will die a gruesome and horrible death. Then, Jigsaw will cut a puzzle piece out of his failed player’s body showing that they don’t have that important puzzle piece that gives us the sheer force of will to survive.
Lionsgate has held a blood drive for their loyal Saw fanatics every time a new Saw movie has come out. This tradition started in 2001- 2009 for Saw I through IV and held another in 2017 for their film Jigsaw. They skipped over Saw 3D and Spiral in 2010 and 2021, leaving the town sadly unpainted and the Saw fans having to pay for their tickets in money, instead of blood. But in 2023 they bring the beloved tradition back! For one free Saw ticket John Kramer wants you to bleed.
The movie studio is teaming up with Audacy to hold this event in 10 cities nationwide. The 10 cities are New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco, and Washington D.C. Ironically there isn’t a blood drive in New Jersey, where the series as a whole takes place. Sorry to the New Jerseyan Saw fans who had spare blood to give. We are sadly excluded from the event this time around. Unless you plan to make the trip to New York, you aren’t getting free movie tickets and can keep your extra pint of blood.
As it turns out, the bleeding individuals aren’t only reserving movie tickets – those who donate also get movie merch, theme park tickets, and concert tickets.
So to all the lucky Saw fans, I hope you’re pumped up for Saw because if you pump some blood you can go see it for free.
