When the public heard about the Kansas City Chief’s number one tight end and the number one pop star in music today, dating, they went crazy.
Ever since Taylor accepted an invitation to watch Travis play, sports broadcasters, like ESPN, have not stop talking about it. Many pictures and videos were taken of Taylor supporting Travis and every single one of them was posted on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, the news, and more. Sports fans are not very happy with this because they would rather see the updates on their favorite teams, not a relationship with a singer and football player. I believe that sports media is definitely overdoing it with these posts. If this couple was posted once, it would be okay, but it has now been going on for weeks.
Taylor Swift fans, also known as Swifties, seem to be perfectly okay with this continuous display because they are excited to see her happy again. Everyone has their own opinions on this matter, even Travis, himself. Travis Kelce claimed in his podcast, with his brother Jason, that the NFL is definitely overdoing it a bit. Every celebrity gets photographed no matter where they go, but because of Taylor’s huge fame, especially over this past year, their relationship is getting publicized incredibly.
There are Tiktok trends where wives are telling their husbands that Taylor put Travis on the map. Even though this is considered a joke, people are taking it literal, creating arguments on Kelce’s fame. There are facts that show Travis Kelce’s Instagram followers rapidly increasing after pictures of him and Taylor spread. I believe that both of them individually have a fan base, but Travis Kelce’s name is starting to become heard across a wider audience now. You can look at it another way by understanding that, typically, male sports fans are recognizing more of who Taylor was, while non-sport fans are becoming more aware of Travis.
In my opinion, Taylor Swift was always a lot bigger than Travis Kelce ever was. Taylor has been number one on music charts for years, for albums, songs, and more. On the other hand, Travis Kelce only got drafted in 2013, but become well known in some of 2015, when his career started to take off. Kelce’s team, the Chiefs, won the Super Bowl last year, which brought his name up even more in the media. After the news of this famous pop singer and football player’s relationship got out, both fanbases have increased, but more on Travis’ side.
The NFL is definitely overdoing it with this relationship because people that follow football do not want to see Taylor Swift posted 24/7. Even though this couple is exciting for some people, it is very frustrating to see them posted more than actual sports.
The NFL and ESPN should definitely stop posting them two together and stick to sports. Leave the photos to the paparazzi.
