With Thanksgiving behind us, many people are arguing about the “best” food for the holiday. While the parade and the football game are a big draw for the day, most people recognize Thanksgiving as a feast. With so many options for food, the argument for which is the best has been highly debated. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, corn, cranberry sauce, and pie are just some of the options.
After polling students from Point Pleasant Borough High School, the most popular Thanksgiving food was mashed potatoes. Honorable mentions go to stuffing and green bean casserole. It seems that stuffing and mashed potatoes are usually very close together in votes, but according to the survey of the two journalism classes, mashed potatoes have won this battle. While mashed potatoes may have reigned supreme there is still some love for other dishes.
“As much as I love mashed potatoes, mac and cheese is a close second,” said Krista Ciancia, a PPBHS student.
Some of the teachers at the high school have differing opinions. Mrs. Bergmann, math teacher, put her vote in for sweet potatoes. Another PPBHS teacher, Mrs. Soliman, voted for stuffing, and Ms. McMillen voted for turkey and mashed potatoes put together.
Despite this heated debate, it seems that everyone agrees that Thanksgiving is a time to come together and enjoy tasty food, no matter their favorite. Personally, I’m team mashed potatoes, especially with gravy. What is your favorite Thanksgiving dish?
