The prequel to The Hunger Games makes a rise in theaters as controversial opinions are being thrown into the air. The movie takes place 64 years before the first movie, starring all new actors. The movie follows the journey of Coriolanus Snow years before he becomes the ruthless president. When the tenth annual Hunger Games occurs, Coriolanus Snow is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray from District Twelve. Gray and Snow build a trusted relationship before and during the Hunger Games. It comes down to the power of Snow’s mentorship and Lucy’s determination to win the fight. 

A generous amount of the reviews for this movie were very positive. However, some reviews were not the best. Some people claimed the previous movies were more action-packed and thrilling than the new movie. Additionally, individuals did not like that the film featured no actors from the original trilogy. The runtime of the movie is about two and a half hours, and it is predicted that this film will make the least amount of money in the franchise.

People considered the film “bland.” Officials explained how hard a movie prequel can be to produce, especially if you’re trying to lure in watchers who did not see the original movies. Overall, I enjoyed the movie. If you have seen the previous The Hunger Games movies, I recommend going to see this one in theaters. It provides an interesting backstory for the characters in the original movies.
