The postseason has begun for wrestlers around the state of New Jersey. There’s districts and regions before ultimately punching the ticket to Atlantic City in hopes of getting on the podium. Point Boro sent six wrestlers to Jackson Liberty this past weekend to compete in regions. District champs included Joey DeAngelo, Jake Clayton, and Ryan Acquisto. Frankie Burgio, Braden Pratt, and George Walsh all placed to advance to regions as well.

At regions, Joey DeAngelo, Jake Clayton, Frankie Burgio, and Ryan Acquisto all advanced well into the semi-finals where Jake Clayton and Ryan Acquisto would make it into the finals. The competition was tough all around as everyone was hoping to make it to Boardwalk Hall. Joey DeAngelo and Frankie Burgio would ultimately fight and end up placing third and fourth in their designated weight classes. Jake Clayton and Ryan Acquisto would compete in the finals where they would take second and first place. Charlize Schlam would end up placing first in her region as well where she’ll make her way down to Atlantic City. 

The wrestling team finished the season with a record of 16 and 5. They finished 4th as a team in districts and were the Central Jersey Group 2 runner up. Overall, the team had a successful season and they’re looking to wrap it up with more success down in Atlantic City.
