Kirk Cousins is signing a four year, $180 million contract with $100 million guaranteed with the Atlanta Falcons. The payout is reportedly set at Cousins receiving $90 million in 2024-25, plus another $10 million in 2026. Cousins became a free agent after he could not agree to a new deal with the Minnesota Vikings. The 35-year-old threw for 2,331 yards and 18 touchdowns in just five games last season before suffering a torn Achilles that ended his season.
The Falcons had a very disappointing season finishing 7-10. They came in third place in the NFC South, only in front of the 2-15 Carolina Panthers, whose one of two wins came against the Falcons, winning just 9-7.
The Falcons fired head coach Arthur Smith and replaced him with former Rams’ defensive coordinator Raheem Morris. The Falcons’ offense consists of some incredible young talents, including running backs Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allegier, wide receiver Drake London, and tight end Kyle Pitts. They will also be adding former Bears’ wide receiver Darnell Mooney to their offense.
A Falcons team that was arguably a quarterback away from playoff contention has found their guy in Kirk Cousins and is looking to have an exciting 2024 season.
