Road rage has become a real issue within New Jersey and other states, to the point where you have to be careful on who you mess with, or even who you just honk at.
On March 4th, 2024 there was a road rage incident in Brick, New Jersey along Mantoloking Rd. This incident escalated to a knife being pulled by a 26-year-old Brick resident.
A few hours after this was reported, the perpetrator was finally arrested outside of a 7-eleven in the Mantoloking area. According to the Asbury Park Press, when his car was reported, police approached the vehicle in order to speak to the driver. That is when they saw the knuckles of the suspect, covered in bruises and blood. They arrested him, charging him with the use of terroristic threats, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon after he allegedly threatened another motorist with a knife.
During this encounter, the victim of the situation was lucky enough to get away before anyone was hurt. The victim reported that she was cut off by the perpetrator’s car, and when the victim honked at him in response, he stopped his car. He exited the vehicle , full of anger, and threatened the victim with a folding knife, banging and screaming through the closed window. As soon as the situation got out of hand, they quickly pulled away and called the police.
The victim was able to give a good description of the perpetrator, allowing police to recognize his car afterwards. They provided a physical description of him, of his vehicle, and a partial license plate. Although, once arrested and admitting to his crime, he was charged and released pending a court date.
Even after New Jersey was rated the worst state to drive in during the 2024 votes, this incident just helps support how dangerous it truly is and how easily an argument while driving could turn life threatening.
