With less than one month away, UFC 300 is right around the corner and the card is exhilarating. Taking place on April 13th in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is one of the most, if not the most, anticipated cards of all time. In this article we will be going over the fighters, matchups, extra details, and our predictions of each fight on the card.
The first fight of the night will feature former bantamweight champion, Cody “no love” Garbrandt. Facing off in his Bantamweight debut moving up from flyweight is #8 Deiveson Figueiredo. This is a very anticipated matchup of two former champions. Garbrandt had been on a downward trek in his career ever since losing his belt to TJ Dillashaw. Now, he is coming off of back to back wins and is looking to get back on top to where he was. Figueiredo is a formidable opponent. The former flyweight champion is looking to end his second fight at bantamweight with a statement against the former champ. Figueiredo last fought against Rob Font in a decision back in December. Font formally knocked out Garbrandt back in 2021. Looking at this fight, Cody will try to find one big punch with that powerful right hand while Figueiredo will look to take the fight to the ground. If he chooses to stand and bang with Garbrandt, expect a KO or a war. We predict a Deiveson Figueiredo KO in round two.
Next up we have the man with the most wins in UFC history, Jim Miller. With this appearance on UFC 300, Miller will have been featured on all of the 100, 200, and now 300. He is the only fighter to do so. Miller, who is now in his 40’s, looks to add another win to his resume. He is coming off of a decision win in January over Gabriel Benítez. This could be it for Miller, win or lose, as he looks to maybe end his career on top with a win over powerful and ever-dangerous, ranked #14 in the lightweight division Bobby Green. Green is coming off of a decision loss to another man who will be named later. Green, also being close to 40, (37 respectively) looks to close his career out on top with a win over the man with the most wins in UFC history. Green will look to keep the fight on the feet, while Miller will most likely try and take this to the ground for a submission. We predict a Bobby Green decision.
Next up, we will talk about all of the featured women’s fights on this card. First up is a women’s strawweight bout between #4 Jessica Andrade and #6 Marina Rodriguez. This fight will be very entertaining, considering both of these fighters are on win streaks and are looking to make a statement. We predict Jessica Andrade wins by split decision. In the women’s bantamweight division is #5 Holly Holm vs unranked Kayla Harrison making her long awaited UFC debut. The gold medal judo winner is a nightmare to grapple with in the clinch and her striking shouldn’t be underestimated. Holly will look to keep this fight on the feet. We think Harrison will definitely make a statement in her first match but Holly Holm will take the KO victory in the 3rd round. Lastly is our featured bout of champion Zhang Weili and #1 Yan Xiaonan. Weili is one of the most dominant champions of all time. This bout being no different. Yes, Xiaonan is a force, but Weili is climbing the ladder to become the best women’s fighter of all time. We predict a Weili submission in round four.
Following the women’s bouts we have a lightweight bout between #10 Jalin Turner vs #13 Renato Moicano. Jalin Turner can be described in one word: dawg. He has ten KO victories and four submissions. Coming off of a Bobby Green KO win, Turner looks to finally make his way up the rankings. He is a future title challenger for sure. Renato is a ground wizard. With ten submissions in his career, he will look to take this fight to the ground and submit Turner within 15. We predict a Jalin Turner KO in round one.
The return of Diego Lopes is here. In this featherweight bout, unranked Lopes takes on #13 Sadiq Yosef. Lopes looks to make his way into the rankings. The fan favorite is coming off of two round one finishes and this bout won’t be any different. Yes, Yosef is a killer, but Lopes is one of the best prospects in the UFC right now and this bout will not change his trajectory to the belt. We bet a Lopes round two KO.
Next up is Bo Nickal vs Cody Brundage in the middleweight division. If you know MMA, you know that this matchup just isn’t fair. Not much to be said here other than Bo Nickal is a three time D1 NCAA wrestling champion and he barely uses it because his striking can KO people with one punch. Bo Nickal round one KO. It’s a lock.
Bantamweight goat Aljamain Sterling makes his featherweight debut against #9 Calvin Kattar. We don’t think that this fight will end early. Sterling will spam takedowns and he will try to either submit or get Kattar with ground and pound. Kattar will look to keep this fight on the feet and use his great standup to KO Sterling. We predict an Aljo decision.
Following them in the light heavyweight division is former champ Jiří Procházka and #5 Aleksandar Rakić. Rakić is a very boring fighter with a very bland style. Yet, this matchup is confusing considering that Procházka is one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC with one of the most unique styles. We hate to say it, but Procházka is coming off of a KO loss to now champion Alex Pereira and Rakić just somehow seems to win every time. We think Rakić will win, but it really could go either way.
With only three fights left to talk about, these are the three most anticipated bouts of the night. We’re going to start with the #1 contendership for the lightweight division. #1 Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira takes on #4 Arman Tsarukyan. Oliveira is growing like a fine wine; he seems to get better with age. He hasn’t fought in nearly a year and is coming off of a KO win of Beneil Dariush. Oliveira has the most finishes and submissions in UFC history and this bout will push him ahead in the rankings. Tsarukyan is also coming off of a KO win over Dariush back in December. This will be a war of a fight but we predict a Charles Oliveira round two submission.
The beginning of the end is here for Max “Blessed” Holloway. Moving up to lightweight to fight for the BMF title. His opponent? Justin “The highlight” Gaethje. Gaethje is a trained killer. People who fight him do not end up as the same fighter after. The amount of damage that he gives out is more than almost anyone. Even Khabib said he hits the hardest out of anyone. Holloway has never been finished, yet alone he’s never been dropped in his entire UFC career. I think this is the end of the road for Max’s chin. Gaethje will hit him with either a clean overhand right or maybe another head kick. We are both super stoked for this fight, which could be be fight of the year. We predict a Justin Gaethje decision but he drops Max for the first time.
Lastly, but certainly not least, we have the most loved UFC fighter right now in our main event as Alex Pereira takes on #1 contender Jamahal Hill for the UFC light heavyweight championship. Alex is coming off of a KO win over Jiří Procházka. Known for having some of the best striking and kickboxing in UFC history as he takes on one of the scariest boxers in the UFC, in Jamahal Hill. This fight will not go to the ground at all. Both of these men will look to end this fight early on the feet and Pereira’s style is almost all finished, so expect a massive KO in this match.
Hill was quoted saying on his podcast, “I do not plan on taking him down, I plan on standing in there with him and knocking him out.” Yeah, he’s a little delusional. Honestly, if Hill can find a way to escape Pereira’s leg kicks I think that his power may just be too much for him. This fight is the most anticipated bout on the card, capping off a historic night of fights in MMA. This fight will end the show with a bang with a Jamahal Hill round four KO, putting the crowd to silence and shutting up the world.
