Every spring comes the highly anticipated NFL draft. Here are a few of the 2024 top results:
1. Chicago Bears
Caleb Williams, QB, USC
Caleb Williams solidified himself throughout his college career that he is a very well equipped quarterback and is ready to lead a team now. He has lots of great weapons in Chicago and with player comparisons to Patrick Mahomes, Caleb Williams has some high expectations.
2. Washington Commanders
Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU
This year’s Heisman winner and high potential player Jayden Daniels will be starting this year for the Commanders. He is a quick and agile player compared to Lamar Jackson. Lots of people believe he will be a bust partially due to the Commander’s organization being so flawed.
3. New England Patriots
Drake Maye, QB, UNC
Maye has lots of talent and could be a really great quarterback, but he definitely needs to ride the bench for a bit to develop his skills. New England will be a good place for him to do that, he won’t be rushed into a starting position anytime soon.
4. Arizona Cardinals
Marvin Harrison Jr, WR, OSU
A tall and lengthy receiver with great speed and even better hands. He is without a doubt the best player in the draft, the only reason he was not first overall is because of how crucial a QB is to a team. His father, Marvin Harrison Sr, was an all time receiver and Harrison Jr. has the potential to be as good, or even better than, his father.
5. Los Angeles Chargers
Joe Alt, OT, ND
Another player whose father was a very notable player in the NFL is Joe Alt with his father being All-Pro Offensive Tackle John Alt for the Kansas City Chiefs. Joe Alt stands at a staggering 6 foot 8 and weighs in at 322. Don’t let that deceive you though he is nimble and fast on his feet, clocking in a 5.05 40-yard dash.
6. New York Giants
Malik Nabers, WR, LSU
The Giants are in a tough spot with their current team, with a quarterback they just gave a huge contract and him not really performing on it. They made the right decision in giving him another chance and an opportunity to perform with an amazing receiver who has some great hands. LSU is known for producing receivers and Malik Nabers is a clear example of that. Nabers will be a great addition to the Giants.
7. Tennessee Titans
JC Latham, OT, BAMA
Alabama has a great program for producing high caliber big linemen. JC Latham proves this by how versatile he is by being able to play both right and left tackle. In 970 pass blocking snaps that he played, he only allowed 3 sacks which is outright insane. He has a great build and rarely makes mistakes. Latham will strengthen the Titans in many ways and is a solid pick.
8. Atlanta Falcons
Michael Penix Jr, QB, WASH
This was a surprising pick to most people being that just weeks ago the Falcons signed Kirk Cousins to a four year contract. Nevertheless, Penix has a great arm, and under Cousins, he will develop into a very good quarterback. So maybe this pick was more calculated than it was first thought of as.
9. Chicago Bears
Rome Odunze, WR, WASH
The Bears had the first overall pick from a trade they did with the Panthers which now we can see favored the Bears so much. This was the actual pick they earned from their season record. They decided to get another weapon for their new quarterback by getting a top 3 receiver in the draft. Rome Odunze was an elite player last season and had a great day in the National Championship. I believe he has a high upside.
10. Minnesota Vikings
JJ McCarthy, QB, MICH
The Vikings had the 11th overall pick and traded up one spot with the Jets because they feared someone else might trade with the Jets to try and get JJ McCarthy. They really like McCarthy after winning the National Championship and then solidifying his draft stock by having an amazing day at the Combine.
