Mia R., Co-Editor-in-Chief: I can’t believe that my time in high school is coming to an end. These past 4 years have been filled with so many great memories and have introduced me to the most amazing group of friends imaginable. I joined Journalism as a sophomore after returning from a year of online learning. Coming back to school after staying at home for so long was intimidating, but journalism quickly became the brightest part of my day. I met one of my best friends in that class and quickly fell in love with investigative writing. Being given the opportunity to come back as Editor-in-Chief for my senior year was an absolute gift, and I’m so glad I was able to spend one last year working on the newspaper. I’m so grateful for my class and for Mrs. Jensen. Now, to the future editors: don’t be afraid to work one-on-one with the writer you’re editing for! Explaining your editorial choices helps them grow as a writer and improves your overall editing skills. I wish you the best of luck on your journalism journey. Appreciate every moment while you can!
MacKenize, W., Co-Editor-in-Chief: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it” – Ferris Bueller. I always thought this cliché was silly, but now that I’m a senior, it’s more prevalent to me than ever. I never really listened to the advice past upperclassmen gave me, and looking back, I really wish I did. If I was to leave underclassmen with one piece of advice they had to follow it would be to try new things. Join a new sport, a new club, make new friends, just be the best version of yourself. You don’t want to spend the years following high school wishing you were better. I also want to thank the teachers that dealt with me along the way. Thank you, Mrs. Soliman, Mrs. Stabile, Dr. Farrell, Ms. Egan, Mrs. Laplaca, Mrs. Mitreuter, Ms. Sal, and Mrs. Jensen for making my high school experience and senior year unforgettable. Each one of your classes have been so special to me in their own way. Personal advice to the next Editor-in-Chief, do not procrastinate AT ALL. It will catch up to you! But enjoy the role, it’s fun! Class of 2024-ever!
Lexi Y., Opinion Editor: I cannot believe that it’s finally the end of senior year. I’m so glad I decided to take Journalism this year. This class has taught me so much and made me a much better writer. Deciding to become an editor was definitely one of the best decisions I made in high school. I have learned a ton, especially from helping to run the Point Pleasant Boro Student Voice Essay Contest. These last four years have flown by and I can’t wait to see where life takes me in the future. I want to thank Mrs. Jensen, Mrs. Soliman, Mr. Corcuera, and Mrs. Thompson for always pushing me to be my best and for fostering a welcoming and warm environment to learn and grow. Thank you to the rest of my teachers and my friends for supporting me and helping me to become the person I am today. I can’t wait to graduate and enter the next chapter of my life. Thank you, everyone, for everything you’ve done for me, I’m going to miss you all. Good luck to everyone next year!
Abbey G., Public Relations Officer: The last four years have been great, but I’m ready for a new start. Thank you, Point Press, for all of the opportunities I’ve been given, especially being able to run all of our media! It’s been fun! Can’t wait to see what’s next! Peace out!
Marley K., Public Relations Officer: Over the past four years I’ve had the pleasure to have Mrs. Jensen not only once, but twice! I have become a better writer and person in Mrs. Jensen’s class during the past few years. Journalism has taught me that you really can write about anything you choose and how writing can make you feel free. Mrs. Jensen’s patience and love for English and her students is truly incomparable. So if you are lucky enough to have her enjoy every second! Times really does fly.
Brianna B., Public Relations Officer: Journalism was easily one of my favorite classes. Even if you think Journalism isn’t your favorite thing ever, it will for sure still be fun and interesting to you. It is a great combination of learning and having fun. Mrs. Jensen is easily one of my favorite teachers and I’m going to miss this class so much!
Morgan C., Photography Editor: Everyone says “high school flies by so enjoy it” in freshman year when everything feels so slow, but when you are two weeks away from graduation it seems like it went by in a blink of an eye. Usually seniors talk about their last four years, but honestly I think everyone makes stuff up. All I can think about is what I am doing after high school, and what my future plans look like. High school wasn’t bad though, it taught me a lot, like never to judge a book by its cover, or take in everything before it is all gone, or just do that homework you have been putting off because it does come around and bite you in the butt. But I am grateful for everyone and everything around me. I guess Point Pleasant Boro High School wasn’t so bad after all. Journalism is a great class to take, it was fun, it was easy, it got me thinking, I was never excited about writing before coming to this class and now I am. Mrs. Jensen is a wonderful teacher, all you have to do is listen and have fun!
Brian S., Co-Sports Editor: Whoa, it felt like yesterday I was in elementary school learning how to type and being a stud at recess. Growing up through elementary school to middle school and then entering high school you just see the years fly by and the memories you make, so enjoy them and live in the moment. Entering high school I went from four years of football in the fall to four years of baseball in the spring, it was probably one of the best decisions I’ve made in high school, you meet friends and make memories that will last forever.
Ryan K., Arts & Culture Editor: For the past 4 years, I’ve been blessed and allowed to experience new things and go through many challenges. During our Covid years, especially in our freshman year, I didn’t get to experience or roam what our high school had to offer. By my sophomore year, it turned into a reality. I would like to thank all of my teachers for helping me get to where I am today. I would like to thank Mrs. Jensen for all of her hard work this year in journalism. I would also like to thank all of you for putting me into your lives and living the life, portraying good vibes, and making so many memories. We had our ups and downs, we laughed, cried, and complained, but in the end, that’s learning the facts of life. My advice to our next generations of Panthers coming into Point Pleasant Borough High School, enjoy it while you can, these four years will go fast! Make a good appearance when meeting new people and new teachers. Enhance your school community, get involved, and join a club! To the senior class, I wish you all the best of luck in your future endeavors and always keep in touch. The Class of 2024 is one of the best graduating classes that Point Boro will remember. “Until next time take care of yourself and each other.”
Mia C., Staff: It’s hard to believe that high school is almost over. I am about to graduate in a couple of weeks. People always talk about how high school goes by quickly, and I never believed them, but OMG did it go by so fast. I still remember being a freshman thinking that high school was never going to end and now it is almost time for me to walk across the stage and get my diploma. I’ve grown a lot over these past few years. I’m gonna be leaving high school with amazing memories, friends, and lessons. It’s sad to think it’s all over but I can’t wait for the next chapter of my life to begin.
Emma C., Staff: I know, sometimes I complain about going to school or wanting to go home during the school day. But, as these last couple of weeks shorten and time begins to runs out, I know I will dread saying goodbye to Point Pleasant Borough high school. This amazing school the past four years has allowed me to grow into the person I’ve always wanted to become. I’ve had such amazing guidance and support from my all my teachers throughout my high school career and I couldn’t be more thankful for all of them. I will always have glorious memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life, relationships that will last a lifetime, and most importantly, I have learned the best lessons to become a better person for my life outside of high school. I am so excited for what my next chapter will bring, but I will always forever be grateful for Point Boro High School. I hope that one day my kids will be able to experience high school like I did. I will miss you but not too much! P.S. There will always be a part of me in this school forever! AKA my senior mural!
Bella D., Staff: It was such an honor to be able to write for The Point Press for my last year! I had so much fun writing articles every month with my good friend Paige. Over these past four years I’ve always had a love when it came to writing essays so I’m happy to say that Journalism brought me that opportunity. I can’t wait to see how The Point Press continues to grow throughout the years! Thank you Mrs. Jensen for such a fun class, I’ll miss you.
Ben F., Staff: Thank you to my parents for making sure I always kept my grades up throughout high school.
Alyssa G., Staff: These past four years have been such a pleasure. I’m thankful for all the people I’ve met this year. I’m thankful for all my wonderful teachers. And of course I’m thankful for Mrs. Jensen and this amazing class of Journalism. I honestly don’t know what I would do, or who I would be, without these people. I’ve learned so much these past few years and I will take these memories with me. Thank you!
Sky H., Staff: Goodbye.
Harper H., Staff: It is insane how much we grow during our high school years. Physically and mentally, we discover so many new things about ourselves that mold us into the person we will become. High school is different for everyone, but it’s so important to cherish every moment of high school without taking anything for granted. It goes by so fast and before you know it, you will be graduating.
Andrew H., Staff: If you focus on quiz and test grades and score high, you will pass very easily.
Abigail H., Staff: Coming to Point Pleasant Borough High School sophomore year was a big change for me, but everyone who came along throughout these few years couldn’t have made the experience any better. With every class I have taken, up until this very moment, Journalism has to be one of my favorites. It would not be the same without Mrs. Jensen. Her classroom feels like a safe space to me, and Mrs. Jensen is pleasant to be around. She makes the class feel inviting and welcoming. Since I’ve been so used to structured essays throughout high school, the class has helped me open up the creativity in my brain and has overall helped me become a better writer. Researching, writing, and getting my articles published in this class made me feel more connected and involved in the community than ever before. I get to learn a lot about the town that I live in by researching and writing about it, and it also gets published in the school newspaper, which I must say feels pretty rewarding if you think about it. Thank you, Mrs. Jensen, and everyone else for an amazing year.
Madison H., Staff: It’s hard to believe that I’m going to be graduating soon, but I am excited to see what the future brings! These past four years have been tolerable because of my friends and my amazing teachers. I want to especially thank Mrs. Jensen, for always being so understanding and for being such a great teacher!
Paige M., Staff: Thank you so much Mrs. Jensen for sharing the world of Journalism and making this class so memorable! I’m so thankful that I could write for The Point Press and do it alongside Bella #JanuaryWritersOfTheMonth. This class highlighted our world’s top sensations, taught us about literary comprehension techniques, and so much more! I hope everyone who is just coming into Journalism has an amazing time in this class and adds to our beloved Point Press. I will never forget all our conversations uncovering the world of true crime together!
Matt M., Staff: Sayonara.
Kate M., Staff: Another year is done! Senior year was so fun and I cannot believe it’s over. In journalism, I learned so much about myself and the world. My skills grew as a writer because before this class I had never done anything like it. It was so fun to pick any story that interested me and write about it. In Point Boro, community is everything, and in this class, we were able to communicate with the community with news! This class would not be what it is without Mrs. Jensen! She truly is such a kind and energetic person who made the class. I am going to miss this class so much!
Riley N., Staff: Senior year has been full of twists and turns, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything! Finding out who my real forever friends are and going through this year with them is something I will never forget. I just want to thank my teachers who are so passionate about teaching that makes learning so engaging. Even though I’ll be 18 hours down the coast in Florida to pursue my education, Point Boro will always be my home. See ya Point Boro!
Madeline S., Staff: Wow! I can’t believe my high school career is officially over. It feels like yesterday I was a little freshman walking around the big hallways of Point Pleasant Boro High School. Fast forward four years, I am about to graduate. Time really does fly! One class that I am happy that I took was Journalism. Journalism helped me become a better writer as well as allowed me to write about new topics that I never had the chance to write about. It was also so fun being able to read some articles that my peers wrote. Thanks to Mrs. Jensen for being the best teacher ever and for making this a class that I look forward to coming to everyday!
