Coming off winning their division, B-South, the Panthers were not satisfied. They had their eyes on counties!
The Point Pleasant Boro Girls Track team won the Ocean County Championships for the first time ever in program history! The meet took place at Jackson Liberty High School on May 8th and 10th. The Point Press was able to interview sprinter Adelaide Videon Perino. Adelaide is a senior and is going to continue running track at Lehigh University next year. In this meet, she won the 400 hurdles, placed fourth in the 400, ran a leg in the winning 4×4, and placed 5th in the 800. She is a big part of this team as she is not only highly talented, but also a tremendous leader. When asked about the win she said, “After a disappointing end last year, it was amazing to be able to come back my senior year and win it all.”
We also got to talk to sophomore Marin Tansey. Marin has also been having a huge season and is a key contributor to this team. She was a part of both the 4×1 and 4×4 and helped them become County Champions. She ran in the 400 hurdles as well and placed fourth. When asked about the win she said, “After winning Ocean Counties it felt very rewarding to see all our hard work pay off and to be able to win this for the first time was very cool”.
Congratulations to all the ladies of the track team! We are so proud of you! Best of luck to them as they look to finish their season strong at Sectionals! Go Panthers!
