From the teenagers who plan their costumes months in advance, to the teenagers that plan moments before – we all love celebrating spooky season in Point Pleasant Borough High School. As costume trends and ideas change each year, the question is: do you want to get trendy this Halloween? 

If you want to wear stylish and popular costumes, some of the most popular are either based on events that have happened, characters in movies and shows, or themes that would be fun to dress up as with friends. One of the most popular movie costume ideas this year is Deadpool and Wolverine, a superhero film released earlier this year. 

Another popular Halloween costume option is the classic, cops and robbers. Whether you plan on being  a cop or a robber, there are many options to find a costume, including buying it at a Halloween store. You can also be creative and design your own costume. For a cop, some creative ideas are using a blue tutu, a black top, and a police costume hat, along with any other props you feel would fit the costume. 

Another favorite is a group costume: kiss-marry-kill. If this is your choice of costume there are also multiple options to get creative with your outfit. A choice that has been very popular for “kiss” is a red dress and heart glasses. For “marry”, you could wear a white dress, like a bride. Lastly for “kill”, you could wear all black and either dress as a killer or someone that has been killed.

Last year, the most popular costume was a witch. Most people dressed up as witches and made it their own style. On average, “5.8 million adults and 1.4 million children planned on witch costumes for 2023” explained Megan Ziegler from FOX 10 Phoenix. 

Overall, Halloween is one of the most fun to celebrate. Although the candy is a perk, creating a costume is the best part. In recent years, I’ve dressed as classic Halloween characters, such as a vampire and a zombie. This year my friends and I plan to be “kiss, marry, kill” and follow the trend!

With only three weeks until Halloween night, now is the time to start your search for the perfect costume!
