The Point Pleasant Borough Middle School gym erupted Thursday afternoon as the high school students cheered during the back-to-school kick off, Be On Point pep rally. The bleachers were painted black and gold and Mr. Karcich stood before the crowd chanting, “B-O-R-O!”
The Be On Point team, Mr. Furlong, Mrs. Kasyan, Ms. Bergmann, Mr. Johnson, and Ms. Salvatoriello, made the kick-off pep rally possible with their hard work and planning all summer. Be On Point Day is a day for the students to create community and learn about respect, responsibility, and pride.
During the morning periods, students enjoyed a bagel breakfast in their homerooms while playing games created by the Be On Point Committee. Later, they were brought to the courtyard and contributed to painting a new design in black and gold on the blacktop. Then, each grade level gathered in the auditorium and was informed of the grades’ announcements and upcoming events. To end the morning, students lined up on the football field and took class photos in the shape of their graduating year.
After returning from lunch, the whole high school gathered in the middle school gym for the main event – the pep rally! Seniors, Ella M. and Brayden M. acted as hosts and kept the rally organized. Students and staff participated in many games, such as heads shoulders knees and toes, rock-paper-scissors, and more. The cheerleading squad excited the crowd by performing and throwing t-shirts in the audience.
Every student was engaged in all the activities. The Be On Point Kick-Off was a great success!
