Tensions ran high between the class of 2025 seniors and the class of 2026 juniors at Point Pleasant Boro High School. The annual Powderpuff game always creates friendly competition and typically the seniors win the game, but no one knows who truly won this year. Will the Point Boro Powderpuff game ever be the same?
From a junior’s perspective, powderpuff brought about mixed emotions. Most juniors enjoyed participating in the practices and felt ready for the big game. Some students, however, admitted that they weren’t quite sure what their role was on the field. Despite the confusion, the junior class proved to be a formidable opponent for the seniors and held a lead for the majority of the game.
A senior player said that the game was much better than last year as there weren’t too many girls playing, which allowed every player to get a chance on the field.
However, the controversial moment in the game arose was when the juniors were on track to win with a score of 18-12. Another minute was added to the clock which gave the seniors time to score another game-winning touchdown.
Although the juniors said that they had fun playing in the game, they expressed concern over each side playing fairly by the rules, especially when it comes to the game clock confusion. The juniors are looking for redemption; hopefully, this will fuel their fire to win next year.
Just when the junior class thought that the competition was over, during the next day at school, Vice Principal Kirk came on the loud speaker to congratulations the “real” winners of the game… the juniors!
Although the final score was contested, the night was successful in raising money for the classes and bringing the Point Boro community together to celebrate a school tradition.
However, the question that lingers is… who really won?
