As a local, this past summer, I had to buy my own Bayhead beach badge for the first time. When I got to the Bay Head Improvement Association (BHIS) office I found that a full summer season badge was $110.
Although $110 is a lot for a summer season badge, a day pass is $10. If you are an avid beachgoer, going to the beach 12 times in the summer is less expensive for you to buy the season badge than buying 12 day badges. If you do not go to the beach consistently, the price is pretty expensive.
In New Jersey, most beaches require a badge or tag to access the land. The Municipal Beach Act of 1955, “Beach Fee Statue”, granted the authority to charge a beach fee at publicly or privately owned beaches to fund operations, improvements, and maintenance of beach facilities.
Full-season summer badges in New Jersey range from $80-$200. Concluding that even though $110 is expensive for a badge it happens to be on the cheaper side than some beach badges on the Jersey shore.
