While many football fans watch intently each week in hopes their team makes it to the big game, the other fans have waited patiently for the announcement of who will be performing at the halftime show. Well, the big reveal has finally happened and has caused mixed discussions.
The NFL announced that Puerto Rican native Bad Bunny will be performing at Super Bowl LX. Bad Bunny’s popularity has grown since he started appearing on SNL and having a popular role in Adam Sandler’s movie Happy Gilmore 2. This news was released and confirmed by the included parties shortly after Bad Bunny announced that he would not be performing in the United States due to political tensions and ICE raids.
It is, however, raising conflict from the conservative side, as they complained that a primarily Spanish performer is performing at a major U.S. event. But Bad Bunny is clapping back. He jokingly said on SNL that they have “four months to learn Spanish.” Not to mention, Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, and according to the U.S Census, “The Hispanic population is the largest minority group in the United States. So it is not surprising Spanish was the most common non-English language spoken in U.S. homes (62%) in 2019 – 12 times greater than the next four most common languages.”
With all the drama surrounding this topic, Bad Bunny doesn’t seem to be taking any hits. He is still willing and will be at Super Bowl LX.
