Split In the Royal Castle?

Major mayhem ensued at the Royal Palace since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their split from the English Royal Family. The pair made their break public by posting the announcement to their new website and social media accounts. The couple made it clear that their plan is to raise their 8 month old sold Archie in both Canada and England as they split their time between the two countries.  Harry and Meghan stated,  “We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family, and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.”

During The Queen’s year in review, she always displays pictures of loved ones; however this was the first time that Harry, Meghan, and  Archie where not among the pictures displayed. However, on January 13th, Her Majesty broke her silence to say, “My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family. Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.” The Queen normally does not comment on family issues, however, these solemn words meant much to the public causing many to read between the lines.

Moreover, The Queen wants the general public to respect their decision and give them time to work out the issues. She also stated, “We respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family,” the queen’s statement continued; “Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives.”

The tensions were high and many on social media are calling the event “Megxit”; a play on words with Brexit. Those on social media tend to shame the two because they believe that the stunt is “shaming the crown”. However, others are very supportive of the two’s ideas for their future. Therefore, this step down promoted numerous comments from people who are questioning how they Harry and Meghan plan to “serve the crown” while being on their own.  Only time will tell how their future plays out and what this will mean for the Royal family.

The Duke and Duchess plan to leave in June 2020 and start their new lives.
