The Point Press wants you! The Point Press is the hub for any and all news at Point Pleasant Borough High School. The best part of it all? The paper is run and written by the students, and advised by Mrs. Jensen – so you get the inside scoop of all local activities that your typical newspaper could never show you. The feed is anything from school news and activities, events going on in the town and local news, plus any other notable events going on throughout the world. Here at The Point Press, we work tirelessly to provide the best and most entertaining news in order to keep you in the scoop.
In my personal experience working as an editor in the newspaper club, as well as being in the Journalism class (therefore being a part of the club), I can attest greatly to the production of our very own student newspaper. The Point Press is a creative outlet for the students, for the students, which the newspaper has a special meaning and place to our school community. From the inside news and input from residents and students of Point Pleasant, to insight on world problems and events from the viewpoint of a high school kid is absolutely invaluable, and oftentimes, entertaining. On top of all this, The Point Press provides invaluable experience for students who wish to pursue a career in journalism, or even wants to boost their college resumes, as being in the class makes you a part of the club as well.
While The Point Press is a unique source of information, as I began to state before, the class itself, Journalism, provides for an interesting course in which you learn about the media you consume at its very core, while beginning to indulge and create a variety of media, a newspaper, yourself. Not only is this interesting, but as I previously mentioned, it looks great for college students and those applying. It’s a resume builder, as being a part of the Journalism class also makes you a part of the newspaper club.
On top of all this, The Point Press helps to build and strengthen the school and point community, where the people and students are the ones delivering news in real time.
