As the Fall 2023 season nears the end, Point Boro Girls Cross Country Team continues to push through the final qualifiers with significant wins. The Panther Girls XC moved to the Group States as the B-South Division Championship for the 9th consecutive year with an undefeated record of 7-0.
Despite having a complicated season with several injuries, the girls placed 4th in the Sectional Meet. The top 5 runners, Ivy Slavinski, Emma Scarpone, Marin Tansey, Emily Marinelli, and Molly Lloyd, fought to the finish to secure the points to advance. Teams placing in the top 5 move on to the Group meet so this showing was crucial in order to allow the girls to move on.
Sophomore, Ivy Slavinski not only had a huge impact in the results of this race but in the entire outcome of the season as well. She placed 1st in Sectionals, 2nd in the Ocean County Championship, and 3rd in the Shore Conference Championship. She broke the school record several times with an impressive personal record time of 17:56.96.
The girls will finish the 2023 season competing in the Group II State meet at Holmdel’s infamous “Bowl” this Saturday, November 4. Ivy is predicted to place top 5 in Groups and will then move on to the Meet of Champions, which she hopes to place within the top 8 granting her the opportunity to compete in the Regionals Race.
