The 2023-2024 NFL season has been a rollercoaster for many teams. There is no clean-cut favorite for either conference to make the Super Bowl and it has come down to the final week of the season to settle some divisions. This includes the AFC South. This division includes the Jaguars, Titans, Colts, and the Texans. Going into the season, the Jaguars were the clear favorites. Making it to the divisional round in the playoffs just a year prior and with the Colts and Texans starting with rookie Quarterbacks, it looked like an easy ride for the Jags.
8 weeks into the season the Jaguars had complete control over the AFC South being 3 games ahead of 3rd place. With the season looking like a rap everything went downhill. Their Quarterback Trevor Lawrence got injured for a few games and it brought their entire team to distress. Meanwhile, the Colts and Texans were looking like real playoff contenders. This caused the leadup to week 16 where all 3 the Jaguars, Texans, and Colts were all tied and for weeks 16 & 17, they remained tied and brought it down to the last week.
The Jaguars have the advantage going into the final week with only needing a win and their in. Playing the Titans, who have struggled a majority of the season, it was looking like it was wraps. The Texans played the Colts on Saturday night meaning the loser of this game would be eliminated from and chances of making the playoffs. The game started hot for the Texans and stayed that way for the entire game until the final drive for the Colts. All they needed was a touchdown and in a clutch 4th & 1, the running back dropped the ball and they lost the game. Ruining any chances for them to make the playoffs. The Jaguars played against the Titans the next day and many Texans fans went to the game cheering for the Titans to win. And as all stories have happy endings, the Jaguars lost 28-20 giving the Texans and their rookie QB the division win and stunning the entire country.
The Texans will play in the first round of the playoffs at their home stadium against the red hot cleveland browns. Many people are doubting the Texans just like they did at the beginning of the season but just like before. They can stun the world.
