This past school year, the Morgan’s Message club was added to the extensive list of clubs at Point Boro High School. Morgan’s Message is a non-profit organization that helps create clubs in schools across the country to support student-athlete mental health and the stigma around it. It was created in memory of Morgan Rodgers, a former Duke women’s lacrosse player who struggled with her mental health.
Throughout the fall and winter, the club has brainstormed ideas and plans that are about to make their way into our sports seasons this spring. For instance, the Morgan’s Message club is planning dedication games for many of our spring sports teams to help remind ourselves that our health is more important than a game or performance. The lacrosse, softball, and track teams will soon have their Morgan’s Message dedication games to help support the club.
In addition to the dedication games, the Morgan’s Message Club will be creating and spreading mental health awareness butterflies. These butterflies will have mental health tips, motivational quotes, and sports-related info. Keep a lookout for this secret butterfly scavenger hunt across the school and sports fields starting next month!
The Morgan’s Message club is run by president Claire Pauz and vice president Caity Henry. The club meets once a month to discuss future plans and assignments. To get involved, go meet with Claire, Caity, or Ms. Padula!
