It didn’t come as a surprise when the head leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, was assassinated on February 28th, 2026. Over the years, many countries sat back and watched Khamenei be a dictator over the people of Iran. His leadership was run strictly and harshly, with lots of his policies rejecting women from society. Over time, he and his military were able to build up a partially threatening nuclear facility which held many dangerous weapons.
Iran’s technology has been one of the last to advance in modern times. Therefore, it took them several decades to be able to develop weapons for nuclear warfare. On June 22nd, 2025, the United States military struck the Iranian nuclear facility late in the night. The attack destroyed any and every possible nuclear weapon left inside. The B-2 bombers were able to complete the mission and return to the U.S. Naval base.
Even without Khamenei in charge anymore, other Iranian officials stepped into power to continue his reign. In response to no change in the government and a lack of women’s rights, Israel and the United States are continually teaming up to bomb Iran to make a statement. While this continues, the U.S is attempting to stay out of going into an official war with Iran, all while still dropping bombs on secret missions overnight.
