Wellness Comes to PPBHS

Youth Wellness Summit

Wellness+Comes+to+PPBHS

November 16th, 2018, Point Pleasant Boro High School will hold a Youth Wellness Summit in the school gymnasium where different vendors will be sharing information about wellness and the prevention of mental illness programs all day starting at 8am. Students will have the chance to visit the summit during their gym or health class, or they can stop by during lunch periods or study hall, if they have a zero period gym class.

The summit gives everyone an opportunity to meet all of the different organizations in the community that are geared towards wellness and they will have access to all of the resources they need to be healthy. It’s fun too!

— Mrs. Molyneaux

Some of the vendors that will be attending this year’s summit will be 2nd Floor Hotline, Harbor House, Prevention First, Ocean Mental Health, St. Francis Counseling, Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide, Ocean Partnership for Children, and of course our personal favorite, Lotus Lounge Yoga! Most of these vendors will be handing out flyers that explain their organizations in detail along with other resources that students can use to either de-stress or improve their mental health.

The two advisers of the PPBHS Youth Wellness Council are Mrs. Molyneaux and Mrs. Bradley. When asked about her favorite aspect of the wellness summit each year, Mrs. Molyneaux stated, “the summit gives everyone an opportunity to meet all of the different organizations in the community that are geared towards wellness and they will have access to all of the resources they need to be healthy. It’s fun too!”

The PPBHS Youth Wellness Council’s main mission is to spread awareness and encourage others to reach out to those who are showing any signs of mental illness, so that the school community can improve and promote a more positive, accepting environment. Hosting the Youth Wellness Summit is just one of the ways that the council is accomplishing this mission.
