Lana Del Rey unexpectedly shared that she would be releasing a new collection, Lasso, at the Billboard and NMPA Songwriter Awards on January 31st. Scheduled to be released in September 2024, the theme itself surprised fans, as it would be the singer’s first take on a country album.
This release isn’t Lana’s first time progressing toward the country genre, though. She has covered songs like John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads” and “Stand By Your Man” by Tammy Wynette.
As an acknowledgment of her venture into country, she stated, “If you can’t already tell by our award winners and our performers, the music business is going country.”
Dedicated to the cause of her musical journey, she has gone to Muscle Shoals, Nashville, and traveled toward Mississippi with producer Jack Antonoff in order to perfect the album. Lasso will be Lana Del Rey’s tenth studio album, succeeding Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd.
