Many popular books are being made into movies or TV series, such as the “Boys of Tommen” series by Chloe Walsh, Fake Skating by Lynn Painter, Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins, but with these adaptations come skepticism about whether the adaptations will live up to the expectations.
BOYS OF TOMMEN
On February 11th, it was announced that the “Boys of Tommen” would be getting a TV show. The book series follows a group of teens in Ireland and focuses on the issues and harsh topics the teens face to bring awareness to mental health and other issues. The first two books, “Binding” and “Keeping 13”, follow Johnny Kavangh and Shannon Lynch. Johnny, a rugby player struggling with injury and finding self-worth within himself, and Shannon Lynch, a new girl at Tommen who has been bullied and abused by people her whole life, when they meet, they instantly find something in each other that draws them to one another. They must go through endless challenges to find their happy ending. Prime Video is developing the TV show, and Poppy Cogan is the lead writer and executive producer. Cast lists have not been announced, though filming is set to be in 2026 and premiere in 2027. The first season is going to be eight episodes, and it will follow the first two books of the series.
FAKE SKATING
Another book adaptation is coming, this one is for Lynn Painter’s YA novel, “Fake Skating.” The book follows Dani and Alex, childhood best friends, but when Dani moves away, they break contact. They are not the same people they were when they last saw each other as kids. Now, Alex is a hockey legend, and Dani is a nervous mess just waiting to happen, and at a new school, she has to find the group she will stick with, but Alex offers her some help, and soon their fake relationship turns very, very real. Sony Pictures and Olive Bridge Entertainment are adapting it. No casting has been announced. But it is in development.
SUNRISE ON THE REAPING

It shows the bonds and relationships he builds with his competitors before they inevitably die.
