Six Flags in Jackson, NJ, attracts around 2.5 million visitors each year. Visitors say that Nitro ranks among the top five best rides there. The park is also known for Fright Fest, which runs from September 12th to November 2nd. This event draws many visitors to the park. However, visitors were disappointed to find that Nitro was closed.
A frequent visitor, Susana M, says Nitro is her favorite ride. She also says, “Fright Fest is the busiest time of year for Six Flags!” After talking to her about the atmosphere at Six Flags after Nitro had been down, she reported that it had been slower only after King Da Ka’s removal, another very popular roller coaster. Susana also notes that more visitors come to the park during Fright Fest for its spooky aspect, rather than the rides, which is good news for the park.
A lingering question is, when will Nitro be up and running again, and why is it down? The main thing circulating is that the chain lift broke. This means that the roller coaster can’t pull trains up the lift hill, and the ride can’t start because the coaster needs to go up the first big hill to gain speed. It is reportedly down for the rest of this season and may not be operational again until Spring 2026. How does Nitro being down affect your view of the park? Even though Fright Fest is more for the chilling atmosphere, is it the same without Nitro?
